Time entries always belong to a specific calendar day and therefore cannot span past 00:00. When you enter a time entry, selecting two dates is not possible. Even if you start the virtual time clock and later [forget to stop it(/time-tracking/troubleshooting/forgot-to-stop-the-time-clock/), the time clock automatically stops at midnight.
This separation is necessary so that the time account and many other evaluations can be accurate per day, and thus per week and per month.
If your employees work night shifts, you can work around this as follows:
When entering time entries
In this case, the employee should enter two time entries for work that runs past midnight. For example, for working time from 22:00 to 6:00 on the following day, the employee enters one time entry from 22:00 - 00:00 and then one from 00:00 to 6:00.
When recording via the time clock
An admin can configure that employees work night shifts. Timebutler will still stop the time clock at midnight, but it will automatically start it again in the same second.
To do this, log in to Timebutler as an admin, click at the bottom left on “Settings > More..”, then on the right click “Time tracking”. Set the option “Stop time clock at midnight” and save the change by clicking the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
