Mid-year start with Timebutler

If you start mid-year with Timebutler, for example in May or August, you need to decide how to handle working hours and vacation and absence entries from previous months. Follow these steps:

Transfer vacation requests

Timebutler manages vacation accounts by calendar year. For this reason, it’s best to enter all vacation requests for the entire calendar year in which you start with Timebutler into Timebutler. You don’t have to enter them manually; you can import the absences via bulk import in Timebutler.

You can find [information about bulk importing absences(/absence-management/enter-absences/absence-bulk-import/).

Transfer absence entries

You generally don’t need to record absence entries that occurred before you started with Timebutler. It usually doesn’t matter when employees, for example, worked from home or went on a business trip in the past. For these other absences, it usually suffices to import only entries into Timebutler that are in the future. You can, of course, also import entries from the past. As with vacation requests, you import them via the bulk import for absences.

You can find [information about bulk importing absences(/absence-management/enter-absences/absence-bulk-import/).

Transfer overtime balance for time tracking

If you enable the time tracking feature in Timebutler, you must enter the overtime balance as of the start of time tracking in Timebutler. As a rule, the overtime balance is only finalized on the day you start with Timebutler. You therefore don’t need to enter it in advance; it’s sufficient to enter it after you start with Timebutler. To do so, log in to Timebutler as an admin, click “Settings > Working time balance” in the bottom left, and enter the overtime balances in the “Working time balance at the start of time tracking” column.
