If your company already uses Timebutler and a part of the company is sold or split into multiple entities, it is often necessary to separate the employee data. The employees of the existing company remain in the current user group, while the employees of the departing entity are moved into a new, separate user group.
Create new user accounts in the target user group for the employees who are leaving the “old” user group. From a cutoff date that you define, those employees will work exclusively in the new user group. Their previous data remains in the old user group and can still be viewed there.
Because email addresses cannot be assigned to more than one user account, you have two options:
-
Create the new user accounts in advance and leave the email addresses blank for now. Later, remove the email addresses from the old user accounts and lock those accounts. The email addresses are then free again and can be entered in the new user accounts.
-
Create the new user accounts only at the chosen cutoff date. To do this, remove the email addresses from the old user accounts at that point, lock those accounts, and then create the new user accounts in the target user group with the freed email addresses.
