An admin can set the start date of time tracking. This is important so that Timebutler calculates the working time balance only from that date and ignores the days before it. Without a start date, there can be a [large negative balance in the working time account(/time-tracking/troubleshooting/employees-with-a-very-high-negative-balance-in-the-working-time-account/).
Set the start of time tracking
To check or set the start date of time tracking, sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click bottom left on “Settings > More..”, then on the right on “Time tracking”. Change the “Start of time tracking” option and then click the blue “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
Note:
The start date set here applies to all employees, except for those for whom a different start date is set in the user account (see below).
The change is applied immediately in the [working time account(/time-tracking/working-time-account/working-time-account-overview/).
Set the start date individually for an employee
When an employee joins the company and you create a user account for them, you can set the start date of time tracking for this employee individually, in addition to the hire date.
However, you can also set the employee-specific start date afterwards: sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click top left on “Employees > Employees > Overview”, then click the green pencil icon (=Edit) for the desired employee. Change the value in the “Start of time tracking” field and then click the blue “Save” button at the bottom of the page.
The same applies here: the change is applied immediately in the [working time account(/time-tracking/working-time-account/working-time-account-overview/).
Change the start date for multiple employees
With just a few clicks, you can change, enter, or delete the time tracking start date for a large number of employees.
To do this, sign in to Timebutler as an admin, click bottom left on “Settings”, then underneath on “More..”. On the right, click the heading “User accounts bulk import”. There you will find the options for changing the time tracking start date in the “Start of time tracking” section.
The same applies here as well: the change is applied immediately in the [working time account(/time-tracking/working-time-account/working-time-account-overview/).
Set the overtime opening balance
You can set which overtime credit employees have at the start of time tracking. To do this, sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click bottom left on “Settings”, then underneath on “Working time balance”. In the column “Working time balance at the start of time tracking on dd.mm.yyyy” (or “Balance from the previous year”), you can set employees’ overtime opening balance at the start of time tracking. The system transfers this entry immediately to the [working time account(/time-tracking/working-time-account/working-time-account-overview/).
