Verify overtime carried over to the next year

It is possible that the overtime balance as of 31 December does not match the number of overtime hours carried over to 1 January of the next year. Here is a guide for verifying this:

1) Open the working time account for the previous year

Sign in to Timebutler and navigate to “Employees > Time tracking > Working time accounts”. (Employee users click “Time tracking > Working time accounts”.)

Click “Overtime balance as of cut-off date” and set it to 31 December of the previous year. After clicking “Show”, you will see the year-end value in the “Overtime balance on 31 Dec” column on the right.

Tip: The data can be downloaded as an Excel file.

2) Retrieve the balance carried over from the previous year

Click “Overtime balance as of cut-off date” again and set it to 1 January of the following year. In the “Balance from previous year” column, you can see how many overtime hours were carried over from the previous year.

3) Compare the figures

Compare the values from both steps:

  • If the figures are the same, the correct value was carried over.
  • If the figures differ, a correction is required. You can find information on this under Carry over remaining leave and overtime.
