You can define the applicable public holidays for each employee.
In addition to statutory public holidays, you can also create company-specific holidays, for example:
- Christmas Eve
- New Year’s Eve
- Carnival-related days (such as Rose Monday or Women’s Carnival Day)
- Other internal company holidays
These days are not statutory public holidays and are therefore not included in the predefined holiday calendars provided by Timebutler.
Create a Custom Holiday Calendar
- Log in to Timebutler as an Admin.
- Go to Settings > More… > Holiday Set.
- Click Create new holiday set.
- Enter a name (for example, “Company Holidays”).
Configure the Holidays
Configure the holiday calendar in two steps.
Step 1: Select Base Public Holidays
Under Associated holidays, select an existing holiday calendar that matches your company’s location (for example, a specific country or federal state).
All statutory public holidays for that region will be preselected automatically.
Step 2: Add Additional Company Holidays
Select any additional days that should apply in your company, for example:
- Christmas Eve (half day or full day)
- New Year’s Eve (half day or full day)
- Carnival-related days (where relevant)
Click the desired entries to activate them.
- Click Save.
Assign the Holiday Calendar
After saving, you can immediately assign the new holiday calendar to selected users.

Recalculation of Leave
After updating a holiday calendar, Timebutler automatically recalculates:
- All leave requests
- All vacation balances
The new holidays are taken into account immediately.
