In Timebutler, you can [create any absence types(/absence-management/absence-types/create-or-edit-an-absence-type/), and employees can then enter the absence. This way, you can enable employees to record, for example, parental leave, maternity protection, employment prohibition during pregnancy, educational leave, [unpaid leave(/frequently-asked-questions/vacation-and-absences/enter-unpaid-leave/), and any other absence.
How to create the absence type, using parental leave as an example:
1. Create absence type
Log in to Timebutler as an admin and click bottom left on “Settings > More..”, then on the right click “Absence types”. Check whether there is already an absence type “Parental leave”. If not, click the “Create new absence type” button.
Now create the absence type “Parental leave”. It is best to configure that only admins may enter it or that this absence type requires approval. Set the option “Reduces target working time” to “Reduces the target working time in the working time account to 0 h […]”. This ensures that the employee does not have to work any hours on those days (only relevant if you have time tracking enabled or plan to enable it in the future).
2. Enter absence
As soon as the absence type has been created, you can enter parental leave for users, just like you enter other absences. For example, click top left on “Employees > Absences > Enter absence” or click the start and end date in the calendar to create a new absence entry.
Option “Annual limit”
In some cases, it makes sense to restrict the maximum number of days per year that an employee may enter. For example, for educational leave a restriction is sensible. In the edit form for the new absence type, there is the “Annual limit” field for this.
