Working time balance Jan 1 does not match working time balance Dec 31

Timebutler does not automatically transfer the overtime balance to the next year by design. An admin can perform the transfer with a few clicks.

If employees have an [overtime balance as of the cutoff date(/time-tracking/working-time-account/overtime-balance-as-of-the-cut-off-date/) on Dec 31 that does not match the value in the following year’s working time account on Jan 1 (value under “Balance from previous year”), there can be two reasons:

Transfer has not happened yet
An admin may not have transferred last year’s overtime to the following year yet.

Changes since the last transfer
An admin may have already transferred last year’s overtime to the new year, but changes to working time entries, scheduled workdays, public holidays, etc., in the last year have occurred since the transfer. As a result, the overtime balance as of Dec 31 has changed and now differs from the balance on Jan 1.

Correcting the values for Dec 31 and Jan 1

An admin can transfer the overtime with a few clicks. Learn here how to automatically [transfer the overtime balance to the next year(/frequently-asked-questions/vacation-and-absences/transfer-remaining-vacation-and-overtime-to-the-following-year/).

Alternatively, you can manually change the “Working time balance from previous year” value for one or more employees. Sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click “Settings > Working time balance” in the bottom left. Change the value in the column “Balance from previous year” and save the change. The new value is immediately reflected in the working time account.
