Applying the break policy

As soon as a break policy is enabled, Timebutler checks whether the requirements from the break policy have been met.

When an employee records a work time entry via the time clock or the time tracking terminal, or enters it via the entry form, Timebutler checks the entries for compliance with the break policy. If the requirements have not been met—meaning the minimum breaks for working/presence time were not taken or the maximum daily working time was exceeded—Timebutler applies the break policy.

Depending on the setting for the choice option in the break policy, Timebutler either makes the adjustment automatically, asks the employee to confirm the adjustment, or offers the employee the option to either make the adjustment v
or decline it.

Calculating the requirements

Timebutler includes all work time entries of the calendar day when calculating working time. For example, if an employee enters one work time entry for 4 h, then one for 2 h, and another for 2.5 h, the total working time for the day is 8.5 h. Timebutler then applies the minimum break that applies to 8.5 h of working time.

Timebutler also adds up the breaks: if the three work time entries include 15 minutes break, 0 minutes break, and 10 minutes break, the total is 25 minutes of break. If the minimum break is 30 minutes, Timebutler adds 5 minutes to the break.

Breaks between multiple work time entries
For multiple work time entries, Timebutler treats the intervals between entries as breaks.
