Each employee has different [entry and editing permissions(/users-and-permissions/permissions/input-permissions-and-editing-permissions/) depending on the user type.
Extend entry permissions for employee users
Employee users can only enter vacation and absences for themselves. An admin can grant specific employees the right to enter vacation and absences for other employees as well.
To change the setting on the user account, sign in to Timebutler as an admin, click at the top left on “Employees > Employees > Overview”, then click the green pencil icon for the desired employee. Change the setting under “Entry permission”.
The following options are available:
- Default for employee users: cannot create entries for any other users.
- Can create entries for all users that they have view permissions for (including view permissions from the “[Extended view permissions(/users-and-permissions/permissions/extend-viewing-permissions/)”).
- Entry permission for all users: can create entries for all users in the company.
- No entry permission: cannot create entries for any other user.
Define entry permissions by absence type
Admins can always enter any absence type. For each absence type, you can specify whether employee users or supervisors may also enter it.
Sign in to Timebutler as an admin, click at the bottom left on “Settings > More..” and then on the right on “Absence types”. In the overview, you can see for each absence type whether it requires approval. To edit an absence type, click the green “Edit” button in the row of the desired absence type. You can now make changes to the settings and save the changes.
You can also set for each absence type whether the entries [require approval(/absence-management/settings/approval-requirement-for-absences/).
