Each employee has different [viewing permissions(/users-and-permissions/permissions/visibility-permissions/) depending on user type. An admin can extend the viewing permissions as follows:
Extend viewing permissions for departments, employees, or user groups
Admins have viewing permissions for all users and all absences and entries. Supervisors and employees, on the other hand, only have viewing permissions for employees with the same supervisor. You can individually extend viewing permissions for each supervisor and employee.
To do this, sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click “Settings > Viewing permissions” at the bottom left. Here you can grant extended viewing permissions for each user to departments, individual employees, or [user groups(/users-and-permissions/user-groups-and-teams/create-and-edit-user-groups/).
Viewing permissions for employees: by department or supervisor
An admin can set whether employee users may see colleagues with the same supervisor or the same department name. To do this, sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click “Settings > More..” at the bottom left, then “Global settings” on the right. Now check/change the option “Employees see colleagues with the same supervisor or department” (at the bottom of the page).
Set viewing permissions individually in the user account
You can also change viewing permissions individually for employee users in the employee’s user account. The following options are available:
- Default setting: may see colleagues according to the selection in “Global settings” (same supervisor or same department)
- May see colleagues who have the same supervisor, regardless of the department name.
- May see colleagues who have the same department name, regardless of the supervisor.
- May not see any other colleagues.
To change the setting in the user account, sign in to Timebutler with an admin, click “Employees > Employees > Overview” at the top left, then click the green icon with the pencil (=Edit) for the desired employee. Change the “Viewing permissions” option.
Grant viewing permissions for all employees to all employees
In small companies there is often a desire to grant all employees viewing permissions to all colleagues. You can do that in just a few clicks. To do this, sign in to Timebutler as an admin and click “Settings > More..” at the bottom left, then “Global settings” on the right. Now check/change the option “Visibility to all users” (at the bottom of the page).
You can view the viewing permissions an employee has in the [user account detail view(/users-and-permissions/permissions/overview-in-the-user-account-detail-view/).
