Record and display break times

An Admin can enable recording the start and end times of breaks when working time is recorded via the [time clock in the user account(/time-tracking/enter-working-hours/enter-working-hours-time-clock/) or the [time tracking terminal(/time-tracking/time-clock-terminal/time-tracking-terminal-on-a-tablet/). You can also enable entering the start and end times of breaks when [entering working times via the entry form(/time-tracking/enter-working-hours/enter-working-hours-entry-form/).

Enable recording of break times

To record and enter break times, make sure the corresponding options are enabled:

Sign in to Timebutler as an Admin, click “Settings” at the bottom left, then below it click “More..”. On the right, click the “Time tracking” heading. Check or change the “Record breaks with time” option and then click the blue “Save” button at the bottom.

Break times when entering working time via the entry form
Sign in to Timebutler as an Admin, click “Settings” at the bottom left, then below it click “More..”. On the right, click the “Time tracking” heading. Check or change the “Enter break times” option and then click the blue “Save” button at the bottom.

The “Enter break times” option is only available if you select one of the two lower settings for the “Input type” option.

Retrieve break times for a working time entry

You can view the detailed break times for a working time entry in the edit history in the [detail view for a working time entry(/time-tracking/settings/edit-history-of-time-entries/).

Retrieve break times for multiple working time entries

The break times for multiple working time entries are listed in the [Utilization report(/reports/utilization-report/utilization-report-daily-list-view/).

Sign in to Timebutler as an Admin and click “Reports > Utilization report” on the left. Select the option “Report type: List view on a daily basis”. In the “List view” option, enable “Also output working times” and below that “Output details for each working time entry”. Then click the blue “Show” button.

The report shows the details for each working time entry (start/end of the working time entry, start/end of the breaks) in the rightmost columns.

You can also download the report as an Excel file or CSV file by clicking the corresponding button.

Note
Timebutler only outputs the start and end of working time entries and the start and end of breaks if the options for entering/recording these times are enabled. To do this, make sure the “Input type”, “Enter break times”, and “Record breaks with time” options are set accordingly in the [Settings for time tracking(/time-tracking/settings/time-tracking-settings/).
