Hide overtime information

With time tracking, Timebutler maintains a working time account for each employee and calculates overtime based on the entered working times, the target working time, individual public holidays, rounding settings, overtime capping and setup times, and other settings.

In some companies, it is not desired that employees, supervisors, or admins can view the accumulated overtime, for example because the company has agreed on trust-based working hours.

In this case, Timebutler offers many options to restrict the display of overtime individually, as follows:

Configure capping of all overtime

You can configure that all overtime is compensated. Timebutler will still calculate and show overtime in the working time account, but at the beginning of each month, it will cap all overtime and not carry it over to the next month; the same applies to negative hours.

Set overtime capping to the option “All overtime is compensated; neither overtime nor negative hours are carried over to the next month”. Read here how to [activate overtime capping(/time-tracking/working-time-models/capping-overtime/).

Disable display of working time account, overtime calendar, and overtime balance

You can configure for each user type admin, supervisor, and employee user whether to show the [working time account(/time-tracking/working-time-account/working-time-account-overview/), the [calendar view of overtime(/time-tracking/calendar-view/open-the-calendar-view-of-working-time-entries/), and the up-to-the-second overtime balance on the dashboard.

To do this, sign in to Timebutler as an admin, click “Settings” at the bottom left, then click “More..” below it. Then on the page, click the heading “Time tracking”. On this time tracking settings page, you will find the heading “Display of information about overtime” in the lower area. Here you can configure the visibility permissions for overtime information individually.

Disable entering overtime reduction

If you do not want to show overtime, then users should also not be able to record overtime reduction. You can completely disable recording overtime reduction for all users. In the time tracking settings (see the previous section on this page), you will find the option “Entering overtime reduction”.
