In the detailed view of a time entry, the “Edit history” shows which user entered, changed, approved, rejected, etc., the entry and when.
You can access the detailed view of a time entry as follows:
Employee users
Sign in to your Timebutler user account and click on the left on “Time tracking > List view”. For the desired entry, click the blue magnifying glass icon to open the detailed view.
Supervisor and admin
Sign in to your Timebutler user account and click at the top left on “Employees > Time tracking > List view”. For the desired entry, click the blue magnifying glass icon to open the detailed view.
Special case: deleted entries
The list view does not show deleted time entries. However, Timebutler also keeps a log of deleted time entries and records who deleted the entry and when.
Read here how to [view deleted time entries(/reports/download-center/deleted-time-entries/).
View and download break start and end times
If break time tracking is enabled, the detailed break times for a time entry also appear in the change history in the detailed view of that time entry.
You can also retrieve and download the information for multiple time entries. Read here how to [retrieve break times for multiple time entries(/time-tracking/troubleshooting/record-and-display-break-times/).
Distinguishing time clock and entry form
The edit history indicates whether someone recorded the time entry (via the [time clock(/time-tracking/enter-working-hours/enter-working-hours-time-clock/) or the [time tracking terminal(/time-tracking/enter-working-hours/enter-working-hours-time-tracking-terminal/)) or entered the time entry via the [entry form(/time-tracking/enter-working-hours/enter-working-hours-entry-form/). If the edit history shows an entry “Recorded by…”, someone recorded the time entry via the time clock in the user account or the time tracking terminal. If the edit history shows an entry “Entered by…”, someone entered the time entry via the entry form.
You cannot distinguish between recording via the time clock in the user account and via the time tracking terminal on a tablet, because you can, for example, start an entry at the time tracking terminal on a tablet, pause it on a phone, and stop it on a laptop. In that case, the entry counts as recorded via both the time clock and the time tracking terminal.
Edit history of time balances
Timebutler also logs changes to time balances (working time balance at the start of time tracking, carryover of overtime balances into the next year) in the [edit history of entitlement data(/vacation-planner/vacation-accounts/change-history-of-leave-entitlement/).
