In the overtime feature, employees only enter the [overtime(/overtime-management/overtime-and-time-off/enter-overtime/) and the overtime reduction, not their full working hours. So if an employee has worked their target working time of, for example, 8 h, they do not need to enter anything. Timebutler maintains an [overtime account(/overtime-management/overtime-account/view-overtime-account/) for every employee and automatically accounts for overtime and overtime reduction in it, together with the overtime balance from the previous year.
To request overtime reduction, proceed as follows:
Employee users sign in to Timebutler and click on the left on “Overtime > Overtime reduction”. Alternatively, you can enter overtime reduction [via the calendar view(/absence-management/enter-absences/enter-an-absence/) like other absence entries.
Supervisors and admins sign in to Timebutler and click at the top left on “Employees > Overtime > Overtime reduction”. Alternatively, you can enter overtime reduction [via the calendar view(/absence-management/enter-absences/enter-an-absence/) like other absence entries. To enter your own overtime reduction, click “My data > Overtime > Overtime reduction” at the top left.
Approval of overtime reduction
An admin can decide whether overtime reduction requires approval or whether employees can enter overtime reduction without approval. Read here how to define whether an [absence type requires approval(/absence-management/settings/approval-requirement-for-absences/).
