Timebutler does not offer a full-featured shift planner function or duty scheduling for workforce planning. However, some companies also use Timebutler as a shift or duty planner:
You can create any absence types you like. For example, you can create “Early shift” and “Late shift” and then enter the shifts in employees’ calendars.
To create absence types, sign in to Timebutler as an admin, click “Settings > More..” at the bottom left, then “Absence types” on the right. Click the “Create new absence type” button and create the absence type, for example “Early shift”. You can also specify whether every employee may enter these absences or, for example, only an admin or supervisors (option “New entries”).
You can also enter the absences (i.e., shift entries) directly in the calendar view. For example, click “Employees > Absences > Calendar view” at the top left. For the desired employee, click in the row on the cell for the start of the new absence, then on the cell for the end of the new absence. A small pop-up window appears. Click the “Other absence” link to then enter the shift entry.
You can also create multiple shift entries via recurring entries. If, for example, you want to enter a late shift for an employee for every Monday and Thursday in a month, i.e., for example 8 entries, you can use the recurrence function to create the 8 entries with just a few clicks instead of having to enter them individually.
