Timebutler does not offer a full-featured shift planning function or duty scheduling for workforce planning. Some companies do, however, use Timebutler as a shift or duty planner:
You can create any absence types you like. For example, create Early shift and Late shift and then enter the shifts in employees’ calendars.
To create the absence types, log in to Timebutler as an admin, click Settings > More… in the bottom left, then click Absence types on the right. Click Create new absence type and create the absence type, for example Early shift. You can also define who may enter these absences — all employees, or only admins or managers — using the New entries option.
You can also enter the absences (i.e. shift entries) directly in the calendar view. Click Employees > Absences > Calendar view in the top left. In the row of the desired employee, click the cell for the start of the new absence, then the cell for the end. A small pop-up window appears. Click Other absence to open the entry form for the shift entry.
You can also create multiple shift entries using recurring entries. For example, if you want to enter a late shift for an employee every Monday and Thursday in a month — 8 entries in total — you can use the recurrence function to create all 8 entries with just a few clicks instead of entering them individually. Read here how to create recurring entries.
